If your eyes burn, water, feel gritty, get red, blur through the day, or make contact lenses hard to wear, there may be more going on than a lack of tears. Our doctor led evaluation analyzes systemic conditions, the tear film, eyelids, and meibomian glands to identify what is contributing and recommend a plan based on your findings.
What the evaluation may include
Symptoms and how they affect your day
Tear film and ocular surface examination
Eyelid and meibomian gland evaluation
Imaging or additional testing when appropriate
Discussion of home care, medical care, and in office treatment options
Depending on your diagnosis, your plan may include home care, prescription treatment, lid or gland treatment, IPL, LLLT, or a combination. Not every patient is a candidate for every treatment. If facial redness or visible vessels are also a concern, ask your doctor whether IPL may offer an additional cosmetic benefit in the treated area. Results vary, and your doctor will explain the recommended plan, alternatives, and follow up.

INMODE Forma Radiofrequency treatment (RF) uses Radio-Frequency energy to generate heat which is applied to the skin around the eyes. This heat stimulates collagen formation, bringing white blood cells, and stem cells to the skin around your eyes while reducing inflammation. This treatment aids in opening up clogged meibomian glands, allowing for improved tear production and secretion.
INMODE Lumecca Intense Pulse Light treatment (IPL) works to control the inflammatory process and to stop the vicious cycle of inflammation and to reduce the need for medications. IPL treats ocular rosacea, Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, and Inflammatory dry eye. It has been shown to decrease demodex and bacteria around the eyelids. The powerful bursts of light also close off blood vessels that release inflammation in ocular rosacea. IPL has been FDA approved for the treatment of dry eye.
Low Level LIght Therapy (LLLT) or Photobiomodulation is a non-invasive treatment using different wavelengths of visible light to address the underlying cause of dry eye. Your provider will recommend a customized treatment series with a combination of colors to improve your ocular surface. The technology uses non-ionizing energy to trigger changes in the cells including increase ATP, nitric oxide, and decreasing oxidative stress. This promotes healing and tissue repair, Reduces inflammation, and warms the tissue including the meibum that lubricates the ocular surface.
IPL, RF and LLLT can help to reverse the signs of ageing by stimulating collagen production by smoothing wrinkles and eliminate dark spots for younger looking eyes.
